[Review] KRAVE BEAUTY: Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser + Kale-lalu-yAHA

With the beauty industry growing faster than ever before, we consumers are constantly being bombarded with new trends and products often making us so overwhelmed with all the things there are to offer. And especially with K-beauty, which has been gaining attention worldwide. Korean companies spend millions on R&D, coming up with more innovations faster than anywhere else in the world and as an avid K-beauty fan, I have always wanted to get my hands on all those new release but I am often felt overwhelmed with them as well.

Krave Beauty, founded by Youtuber - Liah Yoo (really really looove watching her videos, they're always so informative and helpful, I have been following her since her foundation testing days up till now, it really has been a journey :'-) I still remember the excitement when she first announced to us about her brand). So back to the brand, the sort of "motto'' Krave Beauty has is to #PressReset. Press reset on our skincare routine and to all the noises out there in the beauty industry. They are all about listening to our skin and giving it what it craves, instead of shoving heaps and heaps of products and just hoping for a result we want. And the philosophy that the brand has makes me trust them even more really.

I got my hands on some of the products from Krave Beauty from almost 2 years ago (sorry I know, my bad for the procrastination), I am finally going to give my review on two of the products I have tried: the cleanser and the chemical exfoliant.

Okay, first let's talk about the cleanser, the Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser. Let me just put this out there that this cleanser, is my HOLY GRAIL CLEANSER. It is really the best among all the cleansers I've tried. This is a perfect cleanser to use as a second cleanse after removing my makeup with an oil/balm type cleanser or whenever I don't wear any makeup, it still cleanses well alone. I love how this cleanser is totally not stripping yet it makes your skin feels clean after washing. I have tried a lot of cleansers and not many of them I would actually repurchase and with this one I am already on a second tube. My second-best pick for a second-cleanse-cleanser would be the Laneige Fresh Calming Gel Cleanser. Both of these cleansers performs quite similarly, they leave your skin feeling clean but not stripped. The difference is just how the product feels on your face when you're using it. The Match Hemp Cleanser has a goopy texture but it feels very comfortable on my skin and it lathers up perfectly while the Laneige one feels like a usual gel cleanser. Both of them don't foam up too much like those foam cleanser so if that's what you prefer, you won't get them from these cleanser. But an alternative that I also enjoy using is the Innisfree Blueberry Rebalancing 5.5 Cleanser (would be my second runner up). It is a foam cleanser but it doesn't give you the squeaky clean feeling after using it.

The thing I look out for when choosing a cleanser (ingredient wise) is that they do not contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), or SLES sodium laureth sulfate. These are surfactants usually found in most cleansers and they are the one that contributes to that creamy foam in cleansers and they tend to be more stripping, taking away the natural oils needed for our skin and compromising our natural skin barrier. The three cleansers that I've mentioned just now contain none of these ingredients.

Next up would be the Kale-lalu-yAHA, a 5.25% glycolic acid skin resurfacing chemical exfoliator, formulated with a pH of 3.5-4). This chemical exfoliant is also packed with antioxidants from dark, leafy greens such as kale (where its name comes from), spinach, parsley. Whilst it help with resurfacing your skin it also hydrates and soothes your skin as it contains natural hydrators such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin B5, Aloe and Allantoin. Just by the ingredient list, it already sounds comforting to use.

As of my experience, I would say that this product works slowly but steadily. This not a product where you'll see instant results overnight, but it definitely makes your skin feel better overtime with consistent use. I usually use this product when my skin feels more bumpy than usual and it does reduce the pore-clogging feel after a using it for a while (a week or two). And in terms of sensitivity, I see none when using this product. Some people also commented on this product giving them that glow or clearer complexion after using this product but as for me, that aspect wasn't very noticeable. Nonetheless, it is still a great AHA exfoliant as it is gentle enough yet gets the job done.

Alright, I guess that's my review for now. I am really looking forward to try other products they have (they are launching a new oat mosituriser called Oat So Simple Watery Cream!!).
They also have a global website now for customers in Singapore and Malaysia, while previously they only ship to Korea and the US. I would say definitely give them a try if you get the chance to, it is worth every penny!
