Having to have oily but dehydrated skin, I'm always out on the hunt for any products that could deliver hydration without over-suffocating my skin. Hydration is the key to everything. Even when I'm trying to keep my routine as simple as possible (bc I think that's what works for my skin), hydration and calming are always important in my routine.
The Laneige Cream Skin Refiner claims to deliver deep hydration and strengthen the skin barrier (that literally just shouts for my name, hydration plus strengthening the skin barrier, totally my thing)
I've mostly come across products that either do not deliver enough hydration or that are too moisturising rather than hydrating and end up leaving me looking like a grease ball. So, any product that claims to deliver hydration without being overly heavy on the skin definitely tickles my fancy

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION - Laneige created the Cream Blending Technology™ to combine benefits of both cream and skin in a single bottle to satisfy your skin’s hydration needs. It contains White Leaf Tea Water which is rich in amino acids, helps to moisturise, soothes and strengthen the skin barrier, restoring the skin to its healthy condition. To get that, they've actually harvested the first tea leaves in spring and controlling the photosynthesis using Amore Pacific's exclusive ultra shielding cultivating technology, which gives this White Tea Leaf Water a much higher content of amino acid than the ordinary green tea leaves. The Cream Skin Refiner is also filled with mild and safe ingredients which provides moisturising effects for dry, sensitive skin.
TEXTURE - Just like what it says, it looks like a toner, a water toner but with a more milky white color due to the White Leaf Tea Water. It is very water-like, with very very very veryyy minimal viscosity.
HOW I FEEL - I first started using it when I was in a very hot and humid climate. I could practically skip my morning moisturiser with 2 layers of this Cream Skin Refiner on top of my Vitamin C serum and then move to sunscreen. I have to be careful with the amount I use when I was in a more humid environment because too much of the product can leave the skin getting too sticky. Sometimes, I'veaccidentally layered too much of the product and it would leave me with milia the next day. That is when I found out that for oily skin like me, the amount you apply is very important. So, that's why I decided to skip moisturiser or use just the right amount of it. But right now in Australia, where the weather is mostly dry, it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem using it along with my morning moisturiser. I would even layer on one or two more layers of it depending on the weather.
I actually really enjoyed using the Cream Skin Refiner as the first step or right after my toner step (in the morning), and to be honest, it really is feeding the skin hydration that stays rather than just a swift moment of hydration like many toners I've tried, where you have to keep applying them, just to re-experience the short moment of hydration that leaves your skin thirsting for more after each application. The Laneige Cream Skin Refiner really delivers a longer lasting hydration (ofc I don't mean it like a day long kind of hydration, I mean, no product is capable of doing that yet I guess) and the hydration actually gets 'locked in' as it gives you an after feeling that you've applied some sort of occlusive.
Unlike what the product itself suggests, I would say that this product is suitable for everyone, as hydration is important for everyone. You would just have to find out how much your skin needs and use just the right amount of it!
